Privacy Policy
How Insyt collects, uses and protects your personal information.
Who We Are
Insyt is a free, non-commercial learning website run by Mia Appleby, as an individual based in Sweden. Insyt is a personal project and is not a company.
Under data protection law, Mia Appleby is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Insyt and Mia Appleby. You can contact us about privacy at mia@insyt.se.
Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you email us, or message us on LinkedIn, we receive your name, contact details and anything you include in your message.
Information collected automatically. [Analytics and cookie details to be confirmed]. This may include pages visited, the type of device and browser you use, and your approximate location.
Information collected by the website platform. [Website platform to be confirmed] processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver and secure the website. The platform choice will be confirmed before launch.
How We Use Your Information
- To reply to your messages and questions
- To understand how the website is used so we can improve it
- To keep the website secure and working properly
We only use your information for these purposes, and we never sell it.
Our Legal Basis
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we rely on our legitimate interests to reply to messages and to run, improve and secure the website. Where non-essential cookies or analytics are used, we rely on your consent.
Cookies and Analytics
Insyt uses Google Analytics, loaded directly and also managed through Google Tag Manager. This tells me which pages people read and which resources get used, so I know what to write next. It does not tell me who you are.
These tools set cookies in your browser. They record things such as the pages you visit, roughly how long you stay, the type of device you use and the country you are in. Your IP address is handled by Google and is not shown to me.
You can block these cookies in your browser settings, or with a tracker-blocking extension, and the site will work exactly as it does now. Nothing on Insyt requires an account, and nothing you type into a lesson, the workbench or the formula grid leaves your device.
Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics are provided by Google. Their own privacy notice explains what they do with the data they collect.
Sharing Your Information
Your information is only shared with service providers that help run Insyt, such as the website platform, LinkedIn where you message us there, [and analytics provider to be confirmed]. They process it on our behalf and under our instructions.
Some providers may process information outside the EU and EEA. When this happens, safeguards recognised under the GDPR apply, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep emails for as long as we need them to respond, and delete them within 12 months of our last contact. Analytics information is kept for no longer than 14 months.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate
- Ask us to delete your information
- Ask us to limit or stop using your information
- Receive your information in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on it
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY) at imy.se.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Insyt grows. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed.
